Who was your very first crush?
I think it was this little kid called Justin in my preschool group. He was blond, if I remember right. [Hey, I was five!]

If you could undo one thing from the last 24 hours, what would it be and why?
I don’t think I would undo anything. I think it’s useless to go through life thinking about the things you wish you hadn’t done or the things you wish you could do over. Eh. Everything happens for a reason.

In the room you’re in right now, pick out your most treasured item (your computer, people and pets don’t count). What makes it so special?
It would have to be the Army teddy bear that my husband bought me for Valentine’s this year. Oddly enough, I don’t associate the bear Valentine’s Day. Since he’s deployed now, the bear is what I sleep with at night… It even has our last name on the right pocket [where it would be on real ACUs], his rank in the middle, and his unit pin on the beret. It just means a lot to me. And my husband said it was the most meaningful thing he packed for me when I was packing to move up here when he was deployed.

You have $500 that you must use for a good cause. This can be anything from buying someone a hot meal or paying for Christmas presents for underprivileged children, or something else entirely, so long as the money is not spent on yourself. What would you do with the $500?
I would find the homeless man who walks around my hometown and give him at least half of it. I would probably give the rest to the animal shelter in town or something along those lines. Something that would help out.

What’s a quick pick-me-up?
Chocolate-covered espresso beans. Yum. Or someone who can make me laugh.

What made you start a blog?
Well… I first started keeping a blog when I was really young; like eleven, I think. So, back then, it was probably just because everyone else was doing it. lol. But, I normally keep/kept a written journal, and I’ve just found that I’m very lengthy when I write about things that are journal/blog worthy, and typing is much easier than writing. Plus, I like getting input on the things I’ve written most of the time. =]

Who was your very first crush?
Brian Alzamora. He was in my first grade class in Elementary School and we never liked each other. He was a jerk, but I thought he was cute. He’s engaged and has a kid now. And he’s still a jerk.

If you could undo one thing from the last 24 hours, what would it be and why?
I’d go home instead of staying at my boyfriend’s for the day. There’s no food or drinks here and that kinda sucks.

In the room you’re in right now, pick out your most treasured item (your computer, people and pets don’t count). What makes it so special?
My bong - I don’t even use it anymore, but it’s special cause I got it at Bonnaroo during my first summer as the Real Me after my ex and I split up after four years. (I’m at my boyfriend’s house - I don’t have much of MY stuff here.)

You have $500 that you must use for a good cause. This can be anything from buying someone a hot meal or paying for Christmas presents for underprivileged children, or something else entirely, so long as the money is not spent on yourself. What would you do with the $500?
Donate it to NORML and the Marijuana Policy Project

What’s a quick pick-me-up?
Fresh air and sunshine. Lying in the grass, reading a book. There’s nothing better.

What made you start a blog?
I needed a place to vent and be creative. I’m not big on hand-written journals - I can’t write fast enough to clear my brain - and Livejournal and all those other sites are too restricting. Having my own domain just made sense.

Who was your very first crush?
My first crush was Lars. Lars was my very best childhood friend, but when he started school one year before me, he told me we had to stop seeing each other - the other kids teased him too much about having a girlfriend. Eventually I started school too, and when I was around the age of 12, I suddenly looked at Lars in a whole other way… Then he moved to the city, and we more or less never saw each other again. We’re friends on Facebook now though.

If you could undo one thing from the last 24 hours, what would it be and why?
I’d take that afternoon nap that I passed up to watch silly sitcoms.

In the room you’re in right now, pick out your most treasured item (your computer, people and pets don’t count). What makes it so special?
A glass penguin my mother gave me. It’s partly seethrough, and inside the penguin’s belly is a baby penguin. I have been talking to my mom a lot about wanting to have a baby, like, NOW, and so she gave me the penguin(s) for Christmas last year to show me that she is behind me 100%.

You have $500 that you must use for a good cause. This can be anything from buying someone a hot meal or paying for Christmas presents for underprivileged children, or something else entirely, so long as the money is not spent on yourself. What would you do with the $500?
I would buy cat food, cat toys and cat medication and give it to the local animal shelters - they do a terrific job, and need and deserve all the support they can get.

What’s a quick pick-me-up?
Chocolate milk and ICanHasCheezburger.com. Alone or together, but the combo works out very nicely.

What made you start a blog?
I’ve been blogging for so long that I can’t really remember what made me start! My first website did not include a blog, but I guess it was just the next logical step, to add a blog to the site when I finally got my own domain name. It wasn’t called a blog back then, though, at least not around here - we all referred to them as “online diaries” or “news”, stuff like that.

Digital camera reviews

April 3rd 2008 by admin in Etc. 1

Before I purchased my digital camera, which is a Nikon D40x, I took the time to read several reviews of it, and of the other digital camera I was considering, the Canon Rebel XTi. It’s very important to know exactly what to expect with a digital camera, particularly such an expensive one. And while product information can tell you how to use the camera and what to expect from it, it doesn’t quite convey the hands-on experience you can often gleam from unbiased reviews and write-ups.

Effective immediately, the fourth question now reads:

Lexie of thelexie.com:

Who was your very first crush?
His name was Paolo. He proposed marriage to me when we were about to finish kindergarten. I accepted, and then forgot about it [and him] when I moved to a different school to start first grade. I have no idea where he is now. :D

If you could undo one thing from the last 24 hours, what would it be and why?
I would have checked on the pizza I was making a few minutes earlier then I actually had, so it wouldn’t have burned.

In the room you’re in right now, pick out your most treasured item (your computer, people and pets don’t count). What makes it so special?
My camera. It’s a very nice film SLR camera that I’ve been using for my photography workshop. In a few months, I plan to get a digital SLR camera. However, to be honest, I feel that I won’t be using the digital one as much as I’ve been using the film camera. I learned a lot of things while using this camera.

You’re given $500 to spend for a good cause. Assuming you actually have to spend the money rather than donate it to charity, what would you buy, and what would you do with it?
I’d probably buy a lot of Terry Pratchett books from eBay. I’d complete the whole Discworld series, and then use the remaining cash and buy something for my little goddaughter. :D

What’s a quick pick-me-up?
Chocolate, coffee, and Sigur Ros. :)

What made you start a blog?
I’m very interested in web design and graphic design and consider my blog an outlet for my skills. I’ve also met a lot of wonderful people and formed some meaningful friendships as well.

Cole of 7and1.net:

Who was your very first crush?
Probably Andy Bielke in kindergarten. He was really good looking, probably is still. I liked him well through middle school until I moved.
Actually, when I was younger, I had a boombox that could record so I would record myself talking and I once gushed about having a crush on Andy and another guy and I came into my bedroom once and my mom and sister were listening to it, exactly that part as I entered. I was so angry! -lol-

If you could undo one thing from the last 24 hours, what would it be and why?
I would not have ordered the caramel macchiatto. Way too sweet. Yuck!

In the room you’re in right now, pick out your most treasured item (your computer, people and pets don’t count). What makes it so special?
My wedding ring. I’m not in a room with much I care for but I think it’s pretty obvious why I treasure my ring as it’s a symbol of my marriage and relationship. It’s also rather unique and pretty.

You’re given $500 to spend for a good cause. Assuming you actually have to spend the money rather than donate it to charity, what would you buy, and what would you do with it?
We have an organization here PAWS - Pets Are Worth Saving - and they’re sort of like a humane society that takes in animals, usually left by people who PSC to other bases and they’re always in need. I guess I’d go buy some dog food and other essentials for them.

What’s a quick pick-me-up?
Cat Macroes. I know it’s still but they really make me happy.

What made you start a blog?
When I started my blog, I was very angry, depressed, confused, lonely and all around emotional. I had an extremely hard time relating these thoughts to people, friends and family but I wanted to so badly. I thought a blog might help me accomplish this better. I’m not sure that it did, honestly, but it did become kind of cathartic. I also did, and still do use the blog for site updates for my personal site which first existed.
